Ferry schedule Paquera – Puntarenas

Are you planning a trip between Paquera and Puntarenas? Stay informed with the current ferry schedule to make to most of your journey. The ferry service between Paquera and Puntarens offers a convenient and scenic way to travel between the Nicoya Peninsula and the mainland.

As of now this is the ferry schedule. Please note that schedules are subject to change so it is always a good idea to check for updates before your journey

ferry schedule
This also affects the bus schedule here on the peninsula as the bus is coordinated with the ferry.

You can buy the ferry tickets online: www.quickpaycr.com

They only sell about one third of the tickets online, so if you cannot buy online you can just go to the ferry port and pay in the ticket office. In this case it is good to be there an hour before on regular day. I peak season or weekend days, you might want to be there earlier still.

Stray cats control

We have 6 cats here at Bahia Rica now. They are all rescues. Lately we have noticed many more stray cats here – and they reproduce very fast.
We constantly find new kittens which we try to find good homes for.

However lately the stray cats are so many and reproducing faster than we can find new homes.

Luckily we found an organization that work with trapping, spaying/neutering and releasing stray cats:
We teamed up with the Chamber of Tourism (Cámara Paquereña de Turismo, Capatur) and invited the Catrix team to Paquera to help us catch the stray cats and castrate them.

It was a great success as we castrated 23 cats in just one day. A big thank you to everyone that donated money or bought lottery tickets to raise the funds to make it possible.

The big surprise for us and the Catrix team was the amount of stray cats In some of the neighborhoods here.
20 of the cats we caught were all from just one street. And we saw at least 30 more cats in just that street.
The over population of cats is out of control.
Catrix immediately scheduled a new castration event in January.

Aquatic Rescue and Safety Course

Aquatic Rescue and Safety Course SUP
Water activities like Stand Up Paddle boarding are great fun.

The year round warm temperature and calm gulf water makes it even more enjoyable here.

Still accidents can happen in any activity – SUP included – so safety is important.

Thank you to our excellent course instructor Gustavo Corrales from the
International Surfing Association and ILS (International Life Saving Federation).
And to OPacifico Hotel and SUPHERR for organizing!

New ferry and bus schedules

It is low season and the ferry company is taking one of the ferries out for the annual maintenance so they will be running on a reduced schedule until the work is done.

Bioluminescent kayak tour blog

Matt and Jenn, is a couple who left Boston to pursue a dream of traveling, living, and starting a family in Costa Rica. They visited us and wrote a great article about their experience on our bioluminescent kayak tour. We are making a difference!

In just 1 year we have removed 2 tons of garbage from the ocean here in the Paquera bay with the help from volunteers!

A big thank you to everyone that have spent some hours in the beautiful Paquera bay kayaking around collecting trash.

We invite everyone to help us BE PART OF THE SOLUTION – NOT THE POLUTTION!

Bahia Rica Adventures works to reduce the amount of garbage floating in our coastal waters. The idea is simple – get a free kayak trip in return for collecting and separating the trash and sharing this on social media. We also share our knowledge, and help people of all ages get out on our beautiful oceans and take action.

BAHIA RICA KAYAK OCEAN CLEAN UP

We reached another milestone: Since May 2020 we have collected over
2 TON (2000KG!!!!!) of trash from the ocean!

Ocean waste is a global threat – Let’s face it together!

Stand Up Paddleboarding video

Rent a Stand Up Paddle Board here at Bahia Rica, and enjoy a beautiful day on the water!

We have very good SUP boards from Hobie, and the calm gulf water makes for a tranquil padle where you really can take in the views and spot wildlife along shore, or in the water. Standing up on the board gives you an excellent angle in order to see fish, rays and other marine life.
