It is a bit difficult to find us, so please call us when you know when you will arrive and we will guide you out here and meet you at the lodge.

Traveling to Bahía Rica on the Nicoya Peninsula

1. From San José airport fly to Tambor, or drive 120 km to Puntarenas
   • From Puntarenas take the car and passenger ferry to Paquera
   • From Tambor airport drive 20 km to Paquera
2. From Liberia airport drive to Paquera via Santa Cruz, Nicoya and Naranjo
3. At Paquera ferry landing there is a road going east. You will drive 1,5 km east on the gravel road along the shore of Punta Cuchilla. NB! The turn-off is to the left immediately after you get off the ferry – it might be hard to see at first if there are cars standing in line to get on the ferry.

Montezuma (via Tambor) – Paquera: The bus leaves from Paquera ferry landing when when the ferry arrives. To calculate the departure times see schedule for the ferry.

Ferries from Puntarenas to Paquera
Car and passenger ferry
The terminal is at the northwest end of the town where the Tambor I and Tambor II car/passenger ferries does the one hour trip to Paquera. A car with driver included costs approx 12 US$. Only the driver may remain in the car when entering the ferry. All other passengers must walk on board. In high season, and especially around Christmas and Easter, be prepared to wait some time in the ferry line-up. The schedules are:

Puntarenas – Paquera: 5:00, 9:00, 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 20:30
Paquera – Puntarenas: 6:00, 9:00, 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 20:00

It is also possible to fly directly from San José and Liberia to Playa Tambor, leaving from the international airports, with Sansa or TravelAir airlines.
