Sea kayak
Experience Costa Rica’s exotic west coast from a kayak. Paddle in calm bays with fascinating island where you can go ashore on untouched virgin beaches. Are you playful and can handle your kayak well, kayak surfing in the waves at nearby beaches is also a great option. Reefs with a diverse marine life can be observed form the kayak, or you can jump in the water and take a closer look snorkelling. The jungle is growing right into the sea, and paddling in the mangrove gives a unique experience and possibility to also look at the wildlife along the shore. Our trips takes you along the beautiful coast line of the Nicoya Peninsula, Curu Wildlife Refuge and dozens of island in the area.
Kayak trips
Bahía Rica Activities has a variety of trips to choose between. Everything from tailor made trips over a longer period to short 2 hour paddling tours in the nearby area. The routes for the tours might differ depending on the weather and tide.

2 hour trips
- Isla Cedros and Isla Jesusita (no landings)

½ day trips
- Punta Cuhillo, Isla Negritos, Isla Cedros and Isla Jesusita w/ snorkelling (lunch at Isla Jesusita)
- Isla Patricia, Isla Muertos, Playa Gigante (lunch at Playa Gigante)
- Islas Pajaros and Isla Jesusita w/ bird viewing and snorkelling (lunch at Isla Jesusita)
- Estero Paquera and Isla Jesusita w/mangrove paddling and snorkelling (lunch at Isla Jesusita)
Day trips
- Isla San Lucas w/excursion at the prison island (lunch at Isla San Lucas)

Levels
Bahía Rica Activities are organising trips on all levels. We start the trips with a briefing on safety, equipment and routines. For inexperienced paddlers we will give a basic introduction to basic paddling technique, safety (routines and equipment), getting in and out of the kayak etc
Activity guides
On the tours with Bahía Rica Activities you will always have at least one English-speaking guide. Our guides share the interest for nature, activities and socialising and they are always doing their outmost to make the kayak trips with Bahía Rica safe, suitable challenging and enjoyable.
Equipment
Bahía Rica Activities has sit-inside tour kayaks for all the trips.
We have safety equipment and snorkelling and other activity equipment available.
You have to bring your own sunscreen lotion, sunglasses and clothes suitable for the trips. If you wish to bring along electronic equipment such as camera, phone you can rent dry bags from Bahía Rica Activities.
Place of departure and return
The majority of the kayak trips are departing from the beach at Bahía Rica and returning to the same place. If we organise trips that starts or ends at other places Bahía Rica Activities will take care of the transport to and from this place.
Food and beverage
Bahía Rica is providing drinks and snack on all trips.
On the half- and full-day trips we also serve you a lovely lunch in a very tropical setting at one of the island or beaches the trip takes you to.
Small groups
A good kayak experience depends on a lot of different factors, group size is often one of them. Bahía Rica Activities are running trips for 2 to 8 persons.
